Hi. My name is Dima. I am 10 years old. I lived in Chernihiv with my mom and dad. Our city had been under siege from the first days, air raid alarms were howling non-stop and there were explosions everywhere.
On March 16, 2022, there was another bombing. Houses next to ours were burning. My parents decided to take shelter in the hall of our apartment block, they thought it would be safer there. But on our way there an explosion knocked out doors and windows. We were hit by the shards. One of them pierced my head. My mom got stunned and injured her leg badly. I spent a week in the hospital where my mom couldn`t visit me because she herself needed to be treated. In a week I was gone...
Growing up I spent a lot of time with my Mom. She always took care of me because I had an autistic spectrum disorder. We had so much fun! I had my favorite toy cars, I liked puzzles, and had different toys. I was a gentle child. I loved hugs and playing with my mom`s hair.
In the last year of my life, I started speaking and my parents hoped that soon I would be able to fully communicate.
When the war began, Mom, Dad, and I tried to hide in the bathroom. But it was scary and not comfortable. So we started taking shelter in the hall of our apartment. They made a little nook for there where I could sleep and play. A few years ago we had already lost my baby brother Vlad, then the Russian attack took my life. Now, Mom and Dad have two angels.
